THE STORY

Meet the gorgeous Luci and Zoe who were fortunate enough to celebrate their love and commitment for each other across two wedding ceremonies!

If you ask Zoe how her and Luci met, she will tell you it was at a bar in Adelaide in 2009. However, if you ask Luci, she will tell you it was through Tinder in 2014! Despite Luci not remembering their first meeting, the couple still managed to build a beautiful connection after their first date at the charming Adelaide pub, The Colonist.

Luci had known from very early on in their relationship that Zoe was her human. With no thoughts or desires to get married, Luci found that Zoe quickly changed all of those feelings. After purchasing a diamond-band ring, Luci popped the question under the stars at her Mum’s property at Point Sturt in June 2015. Zoe tells us that it was one of the most wonderful and unexpected surprises of her life. She was so stunned and continued to question Luci if it was real, subsequently bursting in to tears for the rest of the evening.

As Zoe is a dual British citizen, they decided to tie the knot legally at the British Consulate in Melbourne, along with their closest family and friends. Zoe’s family in the UK were also present via Skype so that they didn’t miss out on such a special moment.

On the 16th April 2016, the couple held a second wedding celebration at their friend’s home in Netherby, South Australia. They were accompanied by their maid of honours Tina and Gina, as well as their bridesmaids Kate, Cas, Helen, Michelle, Lexi, Claire, Charlotte and Elizabeth.

Their individuality and quirks were reflected perfectly through a vintage garden themed event. Nearly everything they used to decorate the stunning backyard was handmade, borrowed or second-hand to adorn a unique vintage feel. The ladies wanted the evening to feel intimate and struggled to keep the guest list down, culling the original 170 strong list down to 115!

Their favourite memories include the entire wedding party having sing-alongs in Gina’s lounge room, declaring their love to one another in front of their favourite people, the hilarious speeches, and of course their first dance to an acoustic version of Tina Arena’s You Set Fire to My Life. Zoe even secretly had lessons in sign language so she could sign her speech to Luci, who is hearing impaired. The couple agrees that it was the best party they’ve ever been to!

The ladies’ best advice for couples planning their wedding is to be “in the moment” during your special day, and not to sweat the small stuff! The event will take so much more planning than you can ever imagine, however it is worth all of the effort when you see it all come together.
